December 2009 - Assisted a number of firms with system changes to reflect reversion of VAT rate to 17.5% from 1 January 2010. Advised a firm on practice and case management systems selection process. November 2009 - This month we advised two start up firms on IT and operational strategy and two established firms on work needed to review business processes in preparation for increased competition under the Legal Services Act 2007. October 2009 - Consultancy advice given to software company in development of new case management applications. Presented seminar on legal video conferencing. September 2009 - Delivered in depth report to firm on existing working practices with detailed proposals for reform and plans for providing electronic legal services. Persuaded legal software company to enhance its client identification processes. August 2009 - Interviewed approximately 40 personnel, including partners, solicitors, legal executives and paralegals, in firm in preparation for report on business processes and plan for modernisation of working practices fit for post-Clementi reforms. July 2009 - Instructed in firm wide review of all business processes for a large firm with a view to implementing substantial improvements in efficiency and profitability. June 2009 - Created bespoke case applications for a firm for creation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attoreny, including automated completion of statutory forms. Created reports and workflows for another client to assist with a Wills marketing initiative. February 2009 - Upgraded programming of IHT200 forms into IHT400 series, with workflows and data pages to aid automated completion. January 2009 - Created complex automated completion statements within mortgage repossession workflows to calculate net sale proceeds or deficit taking account of prior charges and all costs as well as redemption figure. December 2008 - Created a bespoke Wills case management application for a firm to enable rapid recording of instructions and production of Wills and all associated procedures. November 2008 - Helped a number of firms with configuration, tables, calculation and document changes to give effect to reduction in VAT rate. October 2008 - Undertook process mapping of a firm's debt recovery and mortgage repossession procedures for future workflow design. September 2008 - Completed a review of a firm's manual systems for client and matter opening, client care, correspondence and file closures and made recomendations for automating procedures through workflows. August 2008 - Completed major workflow integration with Call ML client identification software so that client and matter workflows interrogate automatically data recorded via Call ML searches and also interrogate a firm's other records of client ID taken. Results provide automatically for asking clients for ID only if not already satisfactorily taken, appropriate billing of costs of taking ID and flag up warnings of risk factors. Exception reports provided so that risk of non-compliance is minimised. July 2008 - Introductory article by Martin Langan in The Law Society Gazette on getting the most out of your IT investment. June 2008 - Set up case management integration with a third party text carrier to convert emails from conveyancing case management into texts to give instant advice of exchange of contracts and completion. May 2008 – Completed a review and re-working of a firm’s Residential Conveyancing application, including the introduction of a new at a glance review page showing what has been done and what remains to be done at any moment. April 2008 – Fundamental review of a firm’s client and matter opening procedures to ensure data capture of all processing and marketing information needed and to ensure compliance with quality standards. March 2008 – Reviewed a firm’s entire case applications and identified opportunities for automating cross-referrals within the firm. Emails produced with pre-programmed essential information for the department to which the referral is made. February 2008 – Trust compliance documents and procedures programmed for a firm to ease the burden of ensuring that Trusts are properly regulated and reviewed. January 2008 – Email and fax options in place of postal letters programmed with substantive content for a firm wanting to cut down on postal delays and cost by encouraging greater use of email and occasional fax. December 2007 – Procedures put in place for a firm anxious to ensure compliance with Customer Due Diligence requirements and ongoing evaluation and recording of risk. Now, each time a fee earner opens a case within case management, a data page indicating current risk factors is displayed. November 2007 – We reviewed Part 36 procedures in Personal Injury cases for a client firm and brought them up to date with the most recent Rules and improved the efficiency of recording, advising on and responding to Part 36 offers and advice to clients and subsequent making of such offers. October 2007 – We have created programming for Lasting Powers of Attorney, Notices of Intention to Register and Applications to Register for a firm that wanted to automate completion of these lengthy forms and in particular the obligation to divide each detail into a separate field. Similar programming of Enduring Power of Attorney Notice and Registration forms was provided for the same firm.
